About Me

From my teenage years, martial arts have been at the core of my life. I began with Kung Fu and Kickboxing before exploring Aikido, eventually finding my home in Karate, where I trained to the level of black belt. Alongside my Karate training, I immersed myself in the study of traditional weapons forms and, crucially, breath work, an integral part of martial arts that would later become a central focus of my career. In Karate, the concept of breath and energy is often referred to as Ki, and training this internal force became a significant part of my journey.

Beyond martial arts, I explored various athletic disciplines, including MMA, before discovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in my late twenties. For over a decade, I have dedicated myself to grappling, a practice that continually challenges and refines both my body and mind. In parallel, my love for endurance sports led me to complete multiple ultra-marathons, and cycling events. I am also a passionate surfer, whilst my skills in surfing are far from elite, it's shown me a world of yoga and breath work which is prevalent in the lifestyle.  Breath work, which initially emerged from my martial arts training, became a foundation of my fitness and endurance practices.

In late 2023, my health took an unexpected turn. I began experiencing heart palpitations and escalating anxiety, culminating in a rushed referral to A&E due to suspected atrial fibrillation. Chest pains, tightness, and discomfort became persistent issues. I was prescribed medication, but deep down, I knew that relying solely on pharmaceuticals was not my path so I sought alternative ways to regain control of my health.

Through intensive research, I found my way back to breath work, now from a clinical perspective. I worked closely with a CBD therapist, a life coach, and a physiotherapist, piecing together the connections between my anxiety, my breathing, and my physical condition. As a musculoskeletal and sports Podiatrist with two decades of experience in MSK health, as well as a personal trainer and running coach, I was in a unique position to analyse my own biomechanics. I started uncovering the intricate links between posture, chest tightness, movement mechanics, and breath.

One particular memory from my toughest days stood out, the instinctive need to curl up in a foetal position when my symptoms were at their worst. This led me to explore how body positioning, muscle tension, fascia and breath interact in profound ways. What I discovered transformed not only my own health but also my understanding of breath work beyond traditional training methods.

I now integrate breath work with biomechanics and musculoskeletal training, using techniques such as self myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, stability work, isometrics, and dynamic walking drills. This multi dimensional approach enhances sports performance, supports athletic potential, and, just as importantly, provides powerful tools for anxiety, stress management and wellness.

My passion for this work has driven me to share it with others. I am currently writing two books on breath work and biomechanics, set to be published in 2025. I am also building Breath and Biomechanics as an online service dedicated to education, coaching, and workshops. My goal is to help individuals optimise their breathing for both performance and well being.

I have a Masters Degree in Musculoskeletal Studies, am a Level 3 Personal Trainer, Professional Running Coach and Sport England LiRF. I am a Black Belt in Karate and currently Purple Belt in BJJ and have qualifications in Breath work techniques from Yoga, and posture, moving and handling and workplace ergonomics.  I am also currently working towards an advanced instructor qualification with Oxygen Advantage.

Breath is the foundation of movement, resilience, and the energy of life itself. My mission is to help others unlock its potential whether for sports performance, stress management, or overall health. I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
